Erg Chebbi are the first colossal dunes and most accessible of the pre-Sahara Desert in Morocco. Erg refers to ‘a large sea of dunes formed by wind-blown sand’. The dunes are a truly impressive site and rise from the grey hamada (hard-packed rocky desert) to a height of 150m in some places.
