Erfoud

Known as the ‘Gate of the Sahara Desert’, Erfoud is 50km from the dunes of nearby Erg Chebbi. Built by the French in the 1920s, Erfoud was based on the ancient Ksars (fortified villages) of the region. Erfoud is famous for its Palm Dates and holds an annual festival every October or November.
