Mai Chau

Around a four hour drive from Hanoi, Mai Chau is an idyllic rural escape from the hustle and bustle of Vietnam’s big cities. The serene valley is carpeted with bright green rice paddies that extend right up to the foot of the surrounding hills. It is a great place to unwind after a long trip, perhaps with a leisurely walk through the fields or a cycle to one of the nearby waterfalls. The area is inhabited by a number of minority ethnic groups, most notably the Tai Don, distant relatives of groups in Thailand and Laos. Traditional crafts such as weaving an agriculture and strongly upheld. Mai Chau is one of the most beautiful places you will visit in Vietnam.
